Saskia Pellicano
Trademark and copyright lawyer, Pellicano Law
A one-lawyer practice in DUMBO for people who make things and want to keep the name they make them under.
I grew up above my family's print shop in Bensonhurst, setting type for wedding invitations and menus. It taught me that the name on the door is most of what a small business owns.
Before law school I booked bands at a small venue near Flatbush Avenue. After it, I filed and defended trademarks for national brands at a Midtown firm, and learned how big companies protect their names. This office does the same work for the people who were always my favorite clients: small, specific, and making something.
I keep the practice small on purpose. I take a limited number of matters each month so I can answer every email myself.

How a project runs
You write to me with what you make and what's worrying you. I reply with whether I can help and, if I can, a fixed quote for the first piece of work.
If you agree, we sign a short engagement letter that says what I'll do, what it costs and what isn't included. Nothing starts before that.
While the work runs, you get a note from me at each step: when something is filed, when the office writes back, and when a deadline is coming. Trademark applications take months; I'll tell you what to expect so the silence isn't a surprise.
